海外から日本のテレビ番組を見よう

Mr. Fujimoto is assigned to work overseas. He lives in Tokyo now and we have received feedback from him after using our service for 2 months.

I found this service while getting ready for transitioning to an overseas post.

I haven’t received an official announcement of my appointment to the post abroad yet, but I actually received the unofficial announcement about 4 months ago, so I started preparing for it. When I asked for some advice from another staff member who was working overseas before me, he recommended WEB Player. According to him, it wasn’t for him, but his wife who went with him! She likes watching Japanese TV programs. He said “My wife has to be far away from Japan and support me in a place where she isn’t used to living. A way to support her is actually the Japanese TV programs, even if you don’t expect it” I thought he had a good point, so I decided to sign up straight away.

Q. What is the good point of the service?

I can receive lots of information in real time even if I’m overseas. My wife is always looking forward to watching drama and music programs every week. She is happy that she can continue watching them even after moving overseas. I feel grateful for being able to watch news programs in real time. When I went on a business trip which was only for a week, I was surprised how difficult it was to get information about Japan. Even in the era of the Internet, news that is picked up is usually only the top news, so I don’t think that’s enough. But if I use the WEB Player which has real-time broadcasting, I would be able to know what is happening in Japan as it is. It is amazing! I’m not sure how long I have to stay at the overseas post, but even if it goes on for a long time, I wouldn’t have to feel that everything has changed when I sometimes come back to Japan….

Why did you choose WEB Player rather than the new digital media recorder that you were thinking of buying?

The biggest difference was the price. The cheapest digital media recorders may be about a hundred thousand yen. But these would be useless, so if I think about buying a high-end model, I would have to spend two hundred thousand yen. But two hundred thousand yen is a lot…. It would affect our household finance. On the other hand, in the case of the WEB Player, after paying the initial purchase cost (24,800 yen, tax included), nothing else will be charged for the first year. The financial burden was made a lot less so I started using it with peace of mind. I know that whenever we start using a new system, we are always worried about something, but being free of charge for the first year is good.
Even after the first year which is free of charge, it costs only 20,000 yen per year as a server management fee. I think the running cost is also economical.

What do you think about the price of WEB Player?

Initial purchase cost was 24,800 yen (tax included).

The server management fee, which is something like an annual usage fee, is 20,000 yen.

I don’t think this is particularly expensive.

I think there are other ways that we can watch Japanese dramas and other programs overseas. But when I think about searching for some sort of service from scratch or deciding to do a rental etc…it requires a lot of work. When you think about this, WEB Player really is easy! You can easily use the service on a computer, tablet or smart phone. There is no risk of getting infected with a computer virus, unlike the suspicious websites. There is no doubt that the advantage of secure, safe and handy WEB Player is great. The best thing was that the usual initial purchase price was 39,800 yen but I could sign up with the special price. The server management fee is also free for the first year! This encouraged me to make my decision for sure.

Q. What do you think about WEB Player after using it for a while?

I’m glad that the WEB Player covers not only Tokyo’s key stations but also Osaka’s key stations. Because there are many unique programs broadcast in the Kansai area, if I watch them, it often becomes useful in my sales talk (hahaha). Moreover, there is BS digital broadcasting channels, too. Eighteen channels are available all together! It just takes one click. Switching speed is fast so I can enjoy it without any stress.

What does your wife think?

It is such a small thing….but even if I miss hearing a phrase in a drama, I can listen to it as many times as I want. This is good. And, because it is real time, I can imagine, that after moving overseas I will be able to spend time without feeling lonely, so I have peace of mind.
